Lie-Nielsen Toolworks 62 Review: Low Angle Jack Plane. I have been using this plane for a couple years now. After flattening the bottom (not far off but better after) it has become a favorite. I used it to flatten some small bird's eye maple drawer fronts recently (blade sharpened at a higher angle) when my jointer shredded them. It produced barely more tear out than my smoother (4.5 Veritas) and is much easier to move at the lower center of gravity. I finally put the 4.5 up and used only this finishing with a card scraper.
